One of the great uses of current digital technology is the ease with which old or damaged photographs can be restored. Scanning or re-photographing an image gives a file which can then be worked upon within an photo or image manipulation program restoring color and lost or damaged areas. A major advantage is that the image can be worked on repeatedly from the original file. Photographs so damaged as to be unusable can be restored and given a whole new lease of life.
Here are a few images mainly from old picture-postcards, click on the image for old and restored versions.
